Have you ever been in a meeting with the most dynamic person offering the most outlandish ideas; with no sense of budget, timing or how to make the campaign happen?
I have.
My initial reaction is WOW! Yet I've become seasoned, I've found this type to promise the world and deliver practically nothing. These are the TALKERS.
Rome wasn't built in a day, but it was built. Walt Disney was made famous for creativity, but it was how he brought those miraculous ideas to life that made him a legend.
As an agency, We are cultural anthropologists to a menagerie of designers, publicits, marketers and even clients. Personally, I've learned to weed out the talkers and the doers in business.
The formula is rather easy, yet it took me years to figure out.
{THE DOER FORMULA}
TALK + WORK = COMPLETED PROJECT
{THE TALKER FORMULA}
TALK + MORE TALK + LIMITED WORK = MISSED DEADLINES, FRAGMENTED CAMPAIGNS AND CONFUSION.
Elvis remains King for a reason, the man hit the nail on the head with this ditty "A little less conversation a little more action". The loudest person in the room doesn't always get heard. It is the most creative concept, the follow-through, the work and the delivery of promised campaigns which is the substance.
Choose your agencies wisely.
If they promise you the world,
you might just be getting Staten Island.
